Maison et Objet, Mario Tsai

With less than a week to go before one of the most important home & interiors trade show of the year, we are preparing to visit Maison & Objet, Paris 2019. The biannual event sets a standard for design, showcasing collections from reputable brands and up and coming designers. Influencing the trends for the year ahead, the show not only affirms our forecasts but allows us to stay up to date with emerging designers, concepts and innovations that may sculpt future Trend Bible insights.

Ahead of the January edition, which runs from the 18th– 22nd January, we share a preview of key designers to look out for at the show and around Paris.

Rising Talent Awards – China Focus

Mario Tsai

At this year’s show, the Rising Talent Awards, presented by Design Chain will showcase the work of six up and coming designers from China.

We’re particularly looking forward to seeing the work of furniture, product and industrial designer, Mario Tsai. His studio uses minimal materials and processes to create beautiful design pieces as well as saving resources and protecting the environment.

Designer of the Year – Sebastian Herkner

Maison & Objet’s Designer of the Year for 2019 is German Designer Sebastian Herkner. Known for blending tradition with new technologies, Herkner has a love for traditional craftsmanship and authentic materials. Since setting up his studio in 2006 he has received an astonishing number of awards for his impressive design portfolio including furniture, lighting and decorative objects. An installation of his iconic designs, as well as new collaborations, will be shown in the entrance of Hall 6 at the show.

Must see exhibition in Paris – Gio Ponti

Gio Ponti, Photographer: Delfino Sisto Legnani

As specialists in the built environment and design direction for the home, we will be visiting Gio Ponti’s retrospective at Paris’ Museé des Arts Decoratifs. The exhibition will showcase highlights of his career. Blurring the boundaries of architecture and design, the Italian architect and designer was at the forefront of design in the twentieth century and still influences contemporary design today.
