Over the past 10 years, Trend Bible have had a host of interns join us – bringing their passion and hard work to the team. Many have gone on to work with us after graduating, or else have secured great jobs within the industry.
In this post, our newest employee and past marketing intern Jenna Galley shares her experience of undertaking a work placement with Trend Bible. Earlier this year, Jenna graduated with a 1st Class degree in Fashion Communication from Northumbria University.
“A typical day in the office always starts with a cup of tea. Other than that, there probably isn’t a typical day, each day is different at Trend Bible and that is what makes it so interesting. One day I could be drafting posts for the Trend Bible blog, the next I could be assisting on a consultancy project, researching for an insight report or compiling trend books. The variety was one of the things I really admired about the internship as it gave me a real insight into the role of a trend forecaster.
“During my internship, I was given the opportunity to attend the Kids Spring Summer 2018 trend panel. This is where the team, alongside a selection of industry experts, create the foundations of Trend Bible’s future forecasts. This was a particular highlight as it allowed me to experience how trends are created and developed. This also led me on to carry out interviews with toy maker, Paddy Otley and Programme and Development Director at Seven Stories, Alison Gwynn.
Kids Insight Report 2017
“Assisting on the creation of the Kids 2017 Insight Report was another personal highlight. This research-based task allowed me to explore a variety of areas that will be influencing life at home for parents and kids in 2017. My research went on to form four important macro trends which are used by strategists, marketers, buyers and designers within the industry.
“During my time interning with Trend Bible, I also got the chance to attend the opening evening of Northern Design Festival and an associated talk from illustrator Chris Haughton. This was a great chance to get inspired and support designers across the Northern region of the UK, something the whole team is extremely passionate about. Attending networking events and client workshops is a valuable experience for any student wanting to gain professional experience and luckily at Trend Bible this is something many interns are introduced to on a number of occasions.
“The one thing that particularly stands out was how valued you are made to feel as an intern. I was immediately welcomed into the team, making me feel confident to input into discussions and share my opinions. I left my internship extremely inspired with a whole host of knowledge, ideas and insight which helped to mould my final major project.”
Whilst Jenna went on to a full time role at Trend Bible, past interns have secured jobs at the likes of The Future Laboratory, Household, Barbour and childrenswear boutique, La Coqueta.
We offer internships to UK based students and welcome applicants from curious thinkers with a can-do attitude. Our rigorous interviewing process ensures we sift through the 40-50 CVs we receive per week, inviting the very best undergraduates to come and work with us to learn about trend forecasting and how to develop high quality analysis skills.
