Trend Bible Spring Summer 2017
The sun drenched rooftops; open-air balconies and sandy beaches of the French Riviera provide the warm setting for this trend. This relaxed summer story embraces the true spirit of a Mediterranean holiday.
Published 2 years ago in our Spring Summer 2017 Home and Interiors Trend Book, we can now evidence Riviera in major UK and US retailers. In this post, we explore how this trend has been interpreted in store.
Clashing geometric patterns and watercolour prints inject energy and excitement into this lively high summer trend. The vibrant colour palette appears sun bleached and slightly softened with watery overlays.
Painterly florals are a key motif for this trend. At Zara Home floral patterns are dense and heavily textured whilst at Crate and Barrel florals are watercoloured and large scale.
A key print direction for this trend is broken stripes and shattered geometric shapes. Perfectly reflected at Zara Home, we see fine lines and stripes appearing bold and fragmented. Decorative glassware in contrasting combinations are evidenced in West Elm and Crate & Barrel. Glass in this story is delicately colour tinted and tactile.
