Over the past week our US and UK trend researchers have been analysing what’s in store in London and New York for Halloween 2016. Our In Season Retail Report reveals the key trends retailers have tapped into across home, kids and lifestyle products.
“Halloween was again the main focus for supermarkets in particular, with product offerings and displays much larger than in other retail outlets. We saw a continuation of the Mexicana Day of the Dead theme in some stores, but this competed with fresher, emerging trends like the Gothic Victoriana look. Overall, Halloween continued to compete for display space with Christmas, especially in the UK,” explains Hannah Matthews, Trend Analyst at Trend Bible.
Gothic Victoriana was a key look for many retailers this Halloween. Dark florals, detailed skeleton illustrations and curious objects housed in bell jars were seen in both the UK and the US stores. This dark look embodies the Dickensian era, with eerie portraits in ornate frames, gothic typefaces and a feeling that everything is not quite as it seems.
Our Halloween 2016 retail report is now available to buy from our online store. This essential guide to the freshest trends adopted by major retailers for Halloween features 19 micro-trends across gift & greetings, stationery, partyware and home decor.
