The National Stationery Show is the only North American trade show for global buyers and sellers of speciality paper products – from greeting cards, custom invitations, announcements, gift wrap, calendars and journals, to lifestyle gifts. More than 8,000 industry professionals come from 50 states and 77 countries to exhibit and to source product from hundreds of exhibiting brands.
This year’s show embraced the notion of Gratitude with a considered push towards the written word. Gratitude was encouraged with special events such as the “Appreciation Station” where the NSS invited participants to pen a message of appreciation that were mailed from the show. “Thinking of You Week” is an international movement to celebrate the joy of sending and receiving hand-written notes, by encouraging people of all ages to send a card a day for a week, just to tell someone they are thinking of them. Sponsored by the Greeting Card Association (GCA), the event raises the profile of sending greeting cards and is also a great way for publishers and retailers to get involved in their local community. The show also offered calligraphy and watercolour workshops.

“While thank yous and expressing gratitude through a card or hand-written note never goes out of style, the activity has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity and attention with Millennials and their appreciation for the time invested in writing the note,” noted Kelly P. Bristol, the NSS Show Director. “With so many wonderful things happening in the industry and at the Show, we are happy to shine a spotlight on sharing kind words and showing appreciation.”
